The Importance of Flooring When Selling Your Home

July 14, 2013

The best way to approach prepping your house to be sold is the same way you would approach flooringa job interview.  What I mean by this is that first impressions count and you will want to prepare in a way that appeals to the widest range of people.  One of the most effective places to focus your efforts is the flooring in your home.  More specifically the flooring in the main areas of the home.  Floors easily get dingy, dirty, stained, or out dated and if they aren’t improved than prospective buyers may move on to a newer or more up dated home.  If you have neutral carpeting that is becoming slightly worn or slightly stained you may be able to get away with getting it professionally cleaned before your open houses begin.  Also remember that when purchasing new flooring for your common areas it is more important for the flooring to be new and clean as opposed to being expensive.  You will also want to focus on a neutral pallet and not one that necessarily suits your particular taste.  As your realtor I would be able to assist you and let you know if you need new or updated flooring in order to compete with those houses in your local area.  Please call me with any questions you may have.
